Review 2011: Paris Perfect, Pomerol

Review by Twilightny from US

1bed/1.5bath apartment in 7th arrondissement, Paris

February 2006, One Week

The Pomerol apartment is in the 7th arrondisement in Paris, situated on the top floor of a small building. The area was quite nice, very residential with lots of great shops. There was a bus stop literally outside the door and the metro was a short walk (about 5 minutes). The location was excellent.

Nearby Amenities

This apartment is right on Rue Cler, a terrific market street of cheese shops, vegetable shops, butchers, and bakeries. If those shops don't tempt, you are within one block of rue Dominique which has a small supermarket and also a number of food shops. There are many restaurants in the area, including a small cafe right across the street, all within a five-minute walk.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was lovely , just as it appears on the website, perhaps slightly smaller in person. The building itself left a little to be desired. It is in need of some upkeep and at first we were a little put off considering the price of the apartment. The entry hall and elevator bank were very dark and dreary and needed to be cleaned. But the residents seem to be all professionals, so we felt safe. It did take a day or so to get used to the entry situation.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings in the Pomerol are lovely. The apartment is well appointed, with great beds and quality bedding, and immaculately kept. Although it lists as sleeping four, we were three women and while there was enough room for us, I think it would be hard to accommodate another person.

The one bedroom is well-designed with great linens and a great firm bed. The bed is an oversized queen. There was a good sized closet with plenty of hangers and shelves and a small area to keep luggage. There are reading lights on both sides of the bed, along with a small shelf to keep glasses, etc. Beautiful headboard on the bed - made it nice to come home to!

The other sleeping accommodation is a trundle sleigh bed, with great mattresses and linens. When open, it does take up a bit of room. My daughter said it was quite comfy.

There is one bathroom with a sink and tub/shower - beautifully done in marble - large sink, space and shelves for toiletries - great thick large towels. The toilet is in it's own room off the kitchen - which sometimes proved to be difficult. But, it was a great little room - lovely sink, shelves and storage space for more toiletries.

The kitchen is small, but with every latest convenience, even a washer/dryer. Pots, pans, dishes are supplied, all nice quality and in great shape. We did not cook full meals in the kitchen, but mostly used it for breakfast and simple meals in the evening.

Problems or Bonuses

The apartment exceeded our expectations. It was lovely, in a great area and really felt like 'home' within one day. Upon arriving we were welcomed by the apartment manager, Carolyn, and given a beautiful welcome basket of goodies including wine. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a great way to start our vacation.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Everyone at Paris Perfect was just great to work with. The owners, Phillipe and Madelyn, are professional, kind and thoughtful. It was easy to communicate with them via email, with messages returned promptly, etc. The apartment is accurately represented on their website, except it is even more charming. Prices for Paris Perfect apartments seem a little higher than other similar agencies, but are appropriate for the quality service, location and apartments they provide. The prices are accurately listed on their website for each apartment, depending on size.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it.
