In May of 1999, we rented another apartment in Lourmarin for a week. We rented this from the owner.

This was a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment with a good-sized terrace in a nicely restored old building just one street off the main square. It was on the second and third floor, upstairs from the apartment owned by the Winns (from Provence Byways). It had a nice Provencal-style fireplace in the living room and plenty of natural light. The furnishings were simple, inexpensive and not terribly comfortable; obviously purchased so they wouldn't be any great loss if damaged by renters. The bedrooms upstairs had pretty views out over the rooftops to the vineyards and hills that surround the village.

I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about this apartment as the other house, although it was OK. We had to leave early and return home to California because of a death in the family, so I think that may color my memories of it a bit. Preliminary arrangements were all made with Mr. O'Neill by email, but he had an agent who managed things locally. We only met her once, briefly, but she seemed very friendly and helpful.
