Review 207: Just France, Mas du Seraillet

Review by Rachel from TN

4bed/4bath farmhouse, Provence

September 1998

In September of 1998, four couples rented a house outside St. Remy, Provence, France, for two weeks. Mas du Seraillet is a four bedroom farmhouse owned by an English family.

Three of the four bedrooms were excellent. One quite large one with bath was on the upper floor, along with a rather large all-purpose room. On the main floor were the other three, all with ensuite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom was really two small rooms with a bath in between and was suitable primarily for children. The furniture was small and low but we used the second room as a closet and got by although with some discomfort. The living room, with a fireplace, and dining room were very nice and the kitchen was very well equipped and functional. Furniture was attractive and comfortable.

There is a nice pool on the property and some nice outside areas. The property backs up to a park of some kind and over the hill is Les Beaux not a long walk. The road into the property is dirt and rutted but not terribly long.

I would certainly recommend this house with the caveat concerning the fourth small bedroom. I was not the contact person with the rental agency but I did not hear any complaints about them. There is a local caretaker who speaks only French.

We found St. Remy charming and this a great location for touring Provence.
