Review 2249: Paris Perfect, Cote de Beaune

Review by 4468 from UAE

1bed/1bath apartment in the 7th arrondissement, Paris

June 2006, 1 week

The location was great - near the Eiffel Tower and walking distance to many attractons. The closest metro was about four long blocks away while the nearest RER (train stn)was about three shorter blocks away - not as many connections to this "closer station" so you tend to end up at the more easily accessible metro station and then walking the long way home. The street the flat is on is a little busy (noisy) but nothing unexpected for a place in the center of town.

Nearby Amenities

Everything was right there! Markets and grocery stores, bakeries, dry cleaners, florists etc. The hosts also leave a very helpful and detailed booklet filled with neighborhood eating and shopping suggestions. They also include information and opinions on places further afield than their neighborhood.

The House/Apartment

This flat is on the 3rd floor up in an old building - although there is a lift it is only three(skinny) people long and one person wide. If you are not claustrophobic it is fine!

The flat is small!! It is quiet from a neighbor noise point of view and does in fact have a view of the Eiffel Tower, which is especially lovely at night. It is located on a typically Parisian street and overlooks the resturant next door to one side and the green grocer to the other.

No outside areas but all the windows open. It is a non-smoking flat.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The flat was very attractively decorated. The furnishings were comfortable and of good quality. Tasteful art and draperies added immensely to the charm of the place.

It was clean although leaving a few cleaning tools and supplies would have been nice as we were there for a week. The sofa bed was not made up as they had indicated but once they were aware - sheets were delivered quickly.

The beds were great - especially the queensize in the bedroom. The sofa bed was easy to assemble once you knew how - a quick demo would have been useful. The bedroom was the largest room in the flat - and was very nice with shelves and closets and an under-the-bed storage space that worked well. Nice light as well - both lamps and large windows.

The bathrom is very small! Everything is there but it is tiny.

Plenty of dishes pots and serving things - nice touch was the vase! A very well equipped kitchen. Only two burners but it also has a microwave and convection oven so it worked. All new fixtures and cupboards - nice!

Problems or Bonuses

I was surprized at how little contact the representatives had with us once we were there. It was fine but I expected a check-in call midway thru the week to see that we were comfortable and everything was working. Of course we could always call them. It just seemed that they were so personable and friendly during the booking process that a call would not have been intrusive or inappropriate.

Note from Kim:Most vacation rental agencies do not contact you during your stay.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

English was a first language for everyone that we dealt with. I did have a little difficulty getting email replies back which was a little frustrating but overall everything worked out.

I do think this agency is a little overpriced - it is lovely and some may even call it luxurious but for the price we paid the kind of luxury hotel you could have would be VERY nice! No you would not have your own washer-dryer and you would not get that sense of being a local but it all depends on what you want and on what you can afford.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

No, I would not stay here again but only because I think there are better value options out there. The flat was lovely - particularily for one person or a very close couple and the location was very enjoyable. I think you can do better price wise is all.
