3bed/2bath apartment in 7th arrondissement, Paris WhenMarch 2007, 7 nights LocationThe location was excellent, right on the Avenue de la Bourdonnais, a three minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. There was a metro station within a five-minute walk. Nearby AmenitiesThere were several grocery stores within a five-minute walk; also several very nice restaurants and brasseries. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was beautiful, and the pictures and descriptions on the web site were accurate. The apartment is on two floors, with the bedrooms on the lower level (floor five of the building). The building was very secure, with a electronic code entry system and a key to the inner door. The neighborhood felt extremely safe. GardenThere was a beautiful (if small) balcony with a nice view of the Eiffel Tower. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything was in good condition, and the apartment was thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. We were a party of six adults, and we all sat around the living room very comfortably (two good-sized sofas and several chairs). There was also a dining room with a table that comfortably sat six adults. The living room had a flat-screen TV with cable (with a few English-language stations) as well as a CD boom box. Several CDs and DVDs were available on a bookshelf, in addition to guidebooks, local information, and restaurant suggestions in the neighborhood. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very comfortable, as were the linens. Plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Each room had a "sharper image" style floor fan. On the bedroom level, there was one large bathroom with a toilet, two sinks, a tub, and a stall shower, plus an additional bathroom with just a sink and stall shower. Water pressure was consistently fine, and there were plenty of towels of all sizes. KitchenThe kitchen was very well stocked (surprisingly so) with pots, pans, cutting knives, mixing bowls, an espresso maker, a coffee maker, dish soap, etc. All the appliances are new. We cooked dinner once during our stay. Problems or BonusesThe washer and dryer were nice to have in the apartment. We also received a welcome basket with a bottle of wine, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, and a few other things. Agency and Representatives (and price)As everyone else on this site has attested, the Paris Perfect representatives are great. Carolyn is an American, and she gave us a warm welcome and several helpful tips. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would definitely stay here again! There are very few large apartment rentals available in Paris, so if you're with a group of 5-6, or perhaps three unrelated adults, this is an excellent choice. Things to do in this areaWe enjoyed shopping at the quasi-outdoor markets along Rue Cler, and we had very nice meals at L'Auberge du Champ du Mars and a few other local restaurants. (The ParisPerfect guidebook in the apartment listed several recommendations, many of them non-smoking.) This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
