Review 2671: Owner, My Home in Dijon
Studio apartment in Dijon, Burgundy
March 2007, 4 nights
This was a very very large studio apartment located on a pedestrian street in Dijon. The location couldn't be better. It is about 15 feet from the main square yet there was no noise from the square and almost directly across the street from the main museum.
You could walk to everything in Dijon. The train station is about a 5-10 minute walk making day trips very easy. Besides the many bakeries and patisseries in every direction, the large covered market which takes place about three times a week is about a seven minute walk away as is the main grocery store for bigger shopping. The whole town is full of restaurants and cafes.
The building is a historical building and has all been redone. It has a beautiful marble entry, small courtyard with new doors and lights, very secure. The apartment on the first floor, one flight of stairs up without a lift. The apartment has all been remodeled and it was extremely quiet, I couldn't hear any other tenants. There are numerous other apartments in the complex of about three buildings.
There is no outside area but the kitchen overlooks the courtyard, which has a huge greenhouse window that looks into an art school and the other windows look out onto a pedestrian street.
The apartment is decorated with everything one would need. It has a TV, DVD with cable connections. It has a computer and Internet hookup, couch and coffee table, desk and chair, big king bed with nice linens and pillows, nightstands each with a lamp for reading, table with four chairs for dining and a small table with every brochure from the tourist office as well as maps and tons of books on the area.
The place was immaculate in every way!
The bed was very comfortable for both my husband and myself.
The bathroom is split into two rooms, which is just great for getting ready in the morning. One room has the toilet and a small sink. The other room has a very nice tub with enclosure not a curtain, sink, mirrors and light. There were more than enough towels for the two of us, we didn't even use all of them.
The kitchen was extremely compact . It had enough of pots and pans and dishes and glasses as well as every spice, oil, vinegar, teas and coffee, dish soap and laundry soap ... YES, it even had a washer/dryer combo ... which worked very well! I only cooked one simple meal but it was more that adequate. We did have breakfast every morning there and it worked well.
Problems or Bonuses
Nothing bad, everything was as it was stated on the website.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
I booked directly with the owner who was always prompt answering my emails. Upon arrival she met us at the train station and took us for a quick "get acquainted with Dijon" walk before we went to the apartment. She then showed us where everything was and how it worked. She has also put milk, juice, eggs, cheeses, butter and jams and a baguette in the kitchen to get us started.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would return here in a heartbeat and I only hope that everything that I rent is this nice.
I have gotten many referrals from Slow Travel and am happy to be able to repay my debt with a great rental.
