Review 2750: Paris Perfect, Santenay

Review by Margaret G from NSW Australia

1bed/1bath apartment in 7th arrondissement, Paris

October 2006, 1 week

This beautiful apartment was located in th 7th arrondissement across the road from the Champs de Mar. We had a spectacular and close view of the Eiffel Tower and the light show at night was mesmerising. The apartment is close to many cafes and patisseries/boulangeries. My daughter and I loved the area, as it was well serviced by public transport and had a wonderful parisienne feel about it.

Nearby Amenities

The nearest grocery store was only five minutes walk as was the boulangerie and many pattiseries. The grocery store had a wonderful butchery with all manner of meat and game to choose from. There were at least four excellent restaurants within five minutes and a cafe on the ground floor of our building as well as across the road. Across the road was a bus stop with frequent buses going all over Paris. The Ecole Militaire metro is only three blocks away as well.

The House/Apartment

The apartment building is c1800 and is in excellent shape. The apartment was very quiet despite the hustle and bustle of Paris outside. The layout was good. The living/dining area was spacious and comfortable and had all modern conveniences needed as well as being furnished with beautiful antiques. The bathroom/laundry had a comfy bath and shower and large mirror. The building had a lift, although being on the third floor (fourth US) we used the stairs most of the time. Any other residents we met were charming and friendly.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was absolutely beautiful and so nice to come home to after long days sightseeing. The dining setting sat six and the lounge was big and comfy. Definitely more than enough room for four people to spread out in. The apartment was meticulously clean and fresh.

The bed was dreamy comfortable with crisp linen and fluffy doona, better than home actually!

The kitchen was small but superbly fitted out and functional as well as being big enough to eat in. There was a dishwasher, a full oven, a microwave, a cook-top and a Nespresso coffee machine - all high quality. With the nearby produce stores a gourmet meal could be produced easily from this kitchen.

Problems or Bonuses

The only problem we had was with noise was on a few nights when the occupant of the apartment above us seemed to be carrying out renovations. Hammering sounds at 11pm were not appreciated, however I imagine that this would not be an ongoing problem.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I cannot speak highly enough of the Paris Perfect agency. They were most professional throughout the whole booking process and during our stay. I will definitely stay with them again and again. The website photographs were accurate and if anything the apartment was better in real life than it looked in the photos. The information provided before and during our stay was prolific and most helpful. This made our stay just that more enjoyable.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would recommend this apartment to anyone who likes good quality and wants to feel like a well heeled local Parisienne! It is superb.

Things to do in this area

One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks in the centre of the city. Walk, run, play in one of three playgrounds, basketball court, go to the puppet theater or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities in the park, especially after strenuous sightseeing. Or just catch a bus to Galleries Layfayette and spend, spend, spend!!
