Review 2859: Owner, Les Augustins

Review by betty ng from CA

1bed/1bath apartment in Aix en Provence, Provence

06/03/2007 to 06/09/2007, 6 nights

It was in the center of Aix - the place des Augustins, a famous square. The apartment was located on the second floor of an old building, no elevator. We loved the area. There were a taxi stand and bus stops within three minutes walking.

Nearby Amenities

It was centrally located with Monoprix(supermarket) one block away, boulangerie was on the ground floor and there were one pub, three restaurants and one coffee shop in the square. At night, the square was filled with people.

The House/Apartment

The building was in good shape. The apartment was in excellent condition. There were quite a few apartments in the building. We did see some young people come out from other apartments, but overall the neighbors were very quiet. The square was a popular gathering place, so there were a lot of people eating and drinking in the area. We didn't mind because there were air condition in the apartment. We turned the air on and shut the window, it was nice and quiet!

No outside sitting area and no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture were in good shape. The sofa was comfortable and the dining area was nice. The apartment was very clean. The pots and pans were clean and a lot of cups, glasses, plates and basic utensils. There were four chairs in the dining room.

The beds were comfortable. The bedroom was a bit small but it was fine. There were two little closets. The bathroom was separate from the toilet room. There were a tub with shower next to the bedroom. The toilet was next to the apartment front door.

It was a usable kitchen with quite a few pots and pans and a lot of dishes. They were good quality pots and very clean. I did enjoy cooking in the kitchen. We shopped at the farmers' market in the morning and cooked every evening meal there.

Problems or Bonuses

I was surprised the apartment was so nice. I think the mezzanine would be nice for small children (7-10). The laptop was a nice surprise too.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner Françoise was very nice. We were late on the arrival day because we were not able to drive into the square - the GPS was not too good! I finally walked to the building and she came down and led us to the nearest parking area and helped us with luggage. Her web site was very accurate. On the day we left, her daughter came to clean the place and called a taxi for us.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I definitely would stay there again because of the air conditioning and the location.

Things to do in this area

We visited all the Cezanne sites - we enjoyed the Quarries and Jas de Bouffan. We also visited Cassis and Marseilles.
