2bed/2bath apartment in the 6th arrondissement, Paris WhenJuly 1-8th 2007, one week LocationLocation was excellent; five minute walk to Seine, Louvre. Located on Rue de Beaux Arts, which is a smaller street with less traffic. Nearby AmenitiesYou could walk everywhere. Nearest grocery was one block. Boulangerie only one or two blocks. Plenty of restaurants in every direction. The House/ApartmentLayout was great; living room and kitchen adjacent, bathrooms were luxurious as were the linens. Great cross breeze with wonderful large windows; a truly Parisian feel. Is located on the third floor and no elevator so that may be a concern for some. GardenDining room, one bath and one bedroom opened to private courtyard but there was no outdoor seating. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was extremely comfortable and the house was spotless. Plenty of room for three to four people. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable and bathrooms were newly remodeled with marble counters. Also, one bathroom had a full tub which we all appreciated after a day on your feet. KitchenKitchen is newly remodeled as well with plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. We cooked a few times and found everything we needed. Problems or BonusesPlasma TV, DVD, wireless are all pluses. Need your own adaptor for the computer. Agency and Representatives (and price)Can't say enough good things about France for Rent. Greeter was there on time and is bilingual (French/English). Also, they have several offices (one in San Francisco) where you can talk "live" with someone which is a real plus. This is the first time I rented from France For Rent and the first time I did a vacation rental instead of hotel or B&B. Originally, I was looking at Paris Perfect but they didn't really have a spacious enough place for the three of us on short (three months) notice. The price was a deal $2500.00) because we originally booked a gorgeous one bedroom, one bath place in the Marais. Anyway, a month after booking, Pat called and said there was a problem with the original place (a fire, I think) and that they were upgrading us to the two bedroom, two bath place in the St. Germain. I think this place normally rents for $3500.00. I just paid by credit card. Also, have to send a check two weeks or so before departure as a cleaning deposit which was returned to us very promptly. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here again and would definitely recommend it to my friends. Things to do in this areaWell, you can walk to the Louvre in five minutes, the Rue St. Germain in 5-10 minutes, metro is very close, boulangeries, restaurants and grocery all within a block or two. Lots of galleries nearby. All in all, fabulous location. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
