Review 2967: Our Home in Paris, Louis Philippe
1bed/1bath apartment in 4th arrondissement, Paris
9th June, 2007 , 4 nights
It was in the Marais district, between rue St Antoine and the Seine. It was on Rue Beautreillis. I liked the area.
It was very convenient. Monoprix was two minutes away. Boulangerie, restaurants, take-out places, butcher shop, cheese shop and bars were all within 10 minutes walking.
I think the building was historical and famous - Jim Morrison's apartment was in there. The building was in very good shape, but no elevator. The apartment was facing the courtyard - very peaceful and quiet. There was a toilet next to the front door when you walked in. After entering the apartment, turned right and there was a large room for sitting and dining. Next room was the kitchen, then the bedroom. The end of the hallway was the bathroom. The only problem was the toilet and bathroom were separate and far away. There were quite a few apartments in the building, but it was very quiet.
You can view the apartment directly: Louis Philippe.
There was a nice sitting area in the courtyard. I don't know if it is private or shared. There were no pool.
The furniture was in very good shape. We did not use the sofa. The chairs were fine. The living room and the bedroom were clean enough. The toilet was not very clean. The bathroom was okay. The kitchen was not very clean. When I got home, I did contact the owner and let him know. He said he knew of the problem and he promised to correct the problem. There were about seven chairs and one sofa in the living/dining room.
The bed was comfortable. The bedroom was fine. The bathroom was okay. The toilet was a bit far from the bedroom.
The kitchen was very usable. There were enough pots and pans and dishes. They were good quality. I did enjoy cooking in the kitchen. It was a good kitchen for cooking full meals.
Problems or Bonuses
The new air condition was good and cool, but it was very noisy. We turned it on to cool off the apartment and turned it off before we went to bed. So it worked fine for us. Nothing was bad except the toilet was not very clean.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The owner was very nice. The on site person was okay except on the arrival day, there were a new person at the desk(it was a hotel nearby) and didn't know about the apartment rental. The apartment was not ready when we arrived (around 2pm). The cleaning lady let us in and she cleaned the place. We left our things in the apartment, then went out sightseeing. The web site pictures accurately reflect the apartment. We paid €220 per night.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would like to stay here again. I would ask the owner to provide one or two recent renters for reference to make sure the place is very clean.
Things to do in this area
We bought the Batobus five-day pass and visited the Eiffel tower two evenings for the light show.
