Review 2982: Our Paris Apartments, Studio
Studio apartment in 11th arrondissement, Paris
July 26 - Aug 6, 10 days
The studio is up one flight up in a 1902 building at 27 Rue des Bluets. "This is a safe neighborhood in the 11th arrondissement a five minute walk from the famous Père Lachaise Cemetery, and a 15-20 minute walk from the Bastille and Place de la République. The building is about 100 meters from the Boulevard de Ménilmontant where there is an open air street market Tuesday and Friday mornings. With three Métro stops (St Maur, Père Lachaise, Ménilmontant) a five minute walk away it is within half an hour from anywhere in Paris."
While the studio was very private and quiet, it was just a few steps out the door to local shops with anything one would need.
We found the studio very nice and clean, well decorated, with plenty of room to move about. Everything was in good working order including the AC and washer/dryer. It was up one flight of stairs with key code on the street door and one for the apartment. There were two other apartments on the same level.
There is a lovely private patio which increased the living space quite nicely. It is covered with an awning for shade and privacy. It was nice to sit out in the evening to enjoy refreshments.
The furnishings were all new and in good shape. We arrived to find everything clean and ready for our use. Plenty of seating with two chairs at a table in both the studio and on the patio. The setup maximized the living space very efficiently. Two large windows provided plenty of sunlight. There was a TV and DVD setup with a selection of movies to watch. Guide books and other books of Paris lined the bookshelves. The telephone included free international calling. A new fridge and microwave, washer/dryer and two burner cook top were in the kitchen. The bath was tiled and had window and a large shower. Also with nice shelf for towels and toiletries.
The bed was very comfortable and roomy enough for two. Linens and towels were new and of good quality. I liked having a large closet for storing our luggage out of eyesight.
It was a very usable kitchen with good lighting and plenty of room for two to move around. All dishes and other utensils needed for preparing our meals were on hand. It seemed the owners had considered and provided anything we could have needed. Under the sink were the cleaning products, paper towels, even soap for the washer. We didn't need to buy anything, but we did replace was we used.
Problems or Bonuses
We were very surprised at how efficient the living space was utilized. Never in 10 days did we feel we were crowded. If one wanted to nap or watch television, the other could be comfortable on the large patio. It was also nice that a bicycle as provided for my husband's early morning rides while I enjoyed sleeping in.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
From beginning to end, the owner was friendly and professional. He did not require a damage deposit. We payed by debit card prior to our trip. While we did not need to contact him during our stay, we did call to say we had arrived. He also knows the other permanent resident on our floor and said to visit them if we had any problems. I'm happy to say we had none.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would stay here again in a heartbeat! I would recommend this great place to anyone. It was so convenient to the metro with two lines equidistance for our door. It was so pleasant to return to our quiet neighborhood each evening and leave the busy tourist areas behind.
Things to do in this area
One fun thing to do is the Menilmontant street market. The produce was amazing and so fun to buy and prepare at home. Also Belleville Park is a very easy stroll featuring a panoramic view of the city.
