Review 3027: Gtes de France, Moulin de Bacchus (G13062)

Review by muffya from CA

3bed/2bath gite near Vouvray, Loire Valley

July 2007, 7 days

Located on a farm and former mill. Gated estate. Gite located next to owners B&B.

Nearby Amenities

You need to drive to markets. Ten minutes drive to Super U.

The House/Apartment

House was in excellent shape. One bedroom downstairs with bath and two upstairs with shared bath. There is a B&B on the premises.

You can view the property directly at: Moulin de Bacchus.

Covered pool with retractable roof that is shared by the gite and the B&B. Beautiful gardens and sitting area overlooking the former mill and stream.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture was in good shape, comfortable and the house was super clean. Plenty of room for our family to sit. One of the best equipped houses we have rented.

The two bedrooms upstairs were air conditioned (the owners are in the heating/air business). One shower room downstairs with separate toilet and one complete bathroom upstairs. Newly equipped and very clean. Towels were rented at an extra charge, not included in rental fee.

Wonderful kitchen with the largest stove I've seen! Plenty of pots and pans and lots of plates and glassware. BBQ outside as well.

Problems or Bonuses

The owner had fishing poles and bait for our kids to use in the stream. Also welcome bottle of sparking Vouvray for our arrival.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner lives on site and runs her B&B. Very helpful and spoke English. It was much better than the site pictured! We paid 735 plus rental of towels for the week. The owner made great restaurant suggestions and called and made reservations for us.

You can view the owner's website at Moulin de Bacchus.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay here again in a heart beat! The pool was great as was the fishing for the kids. One of the best rentals we've had in Europe. Clean and well equipped.

Things to do in this area

Easy access to Vouvray, Amboise and Tours (all under 25 minutes away). Most major chateaux were accessible in about an hour. Super U located about 10 minutes away. No boulangerie located close. Super wine tasting down the road at Claude Paris for wonderful Vouvrays.
