3bed/2bath house near Saint Remy, Provence

When

September - October 2007, 3 weeks

Location

It was a lovely location with sensational views not far from St Remy. We could see some other villas from our place, however we never heard any neighbours at all. It was a beautiful area, with lots of olive trees and lavender.

Nearby Amenities

The villa was located about a mile from St Remy, and whilst you could walk into St Remy, we drove (as we had a small baby). The grocery store in St Remy is very good, and the restaurants were wonderful! There are lots of great cafes and restaurants in St Remy, along with a great market on Wednesday mornings.

The House/Apartment

The villa was in excellent condition, and was very peaceful. There were three bedrooms and a study (two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and the other bedroom and study downstairs). There was a big living and dining area and a good kitchen. The outdoors area had some hammocks, and a large wood BBQ (and a great dining table).

You can view the house directly: Calabrun.

Garden

The outside area was lovely. It had great views, and was surrounded by lavender. There is a great pool with lots of sun lounges as well as another bathroom (including a shower).

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good condition, with enough room for all of us (three adults and a baby). It was very clean and the owner cleaned it once a week (including fresh sheets and towels etc.).

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bathrooms were good - the main bathroom had a separate shower and a bath. The toilets are separate from the bathrooms (which was good!). There were two bathrooms inside the house, and another one in the pool area. The bedrooms were good, with lots of storage space.

Kitchen

It was a great kitchen with a good oven and stove. Lots of pots and pans, and was a really easy kitchen to cook in (we cooked many meals there).

Problems or Bonuses

The owners left us some homemade jams and olive oils which was a lovely surprise. The villa and location exceeded our expectations.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We dealt with Rentvillas who were great to deal with (we are based in Australia and the agency is in the US). The owner did not speak a lot of English however we got by well (his daughter speaks good English). Our expectations were exceeded.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would absolutely stay here again - we all wish that we were there longer! I have already recommended people stay there, and hope to go back again next year. It was a wonderful place to stay and made for a great holiday.

Things to do in this area

We did lots of sightseeing and St Remy is a good base. There are many great restaurants in St Remy as well as lots of good shops. Don't forget the markets on a Wednesday morning (also, many shops are closed on Mondays!).
