Vacation rentals in France (farms, cottages, gites, apartments)
Review 3293: Owner, #24752
1bed/1bath apartment in 6th arrondissement, Paris
March 2007, 3 nights
Located just off Rue St. Andres des Artes in the heart of St. Germain des Pres. Five to ten minute walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Pont Neuf. Between two major metro stations and RER B stop, just two minute walk to each.
Bakeries, grocery store, frozen-food-to-go store, cheese shops, cafes, all within a one to two minute walk from the apartment. Paul's bakery is in the next block. Le Procope is just steps away.
Historical building on cobblestone pedestrian street, passageway between St. Andres des Artes and Blvd St. Germain. Elevator in building. Apartment very quiet with windows closed. Views from living room looked like impressionist painting of Paris. The apartment had a nice entry hall/foyer, filled with the owner's extensive collection of books on world travel and art. Nice-size bathroom off main hallway. Separate bedroom with queen-size bed, very comfortable and quiet. Large living room with expansive dining table, TV, piano, queen-size futon, also very comfortable. Very modern kitchen with every amenity, including dishwasher and washing machine.
No outside sitting area.
The apartment was very clean, furniture was extremely comfortable with plenty of seating for four. We felt very at home here.
Both the queen bed in the separate bedroom and the queen futon in the living room were exceptionally comfortable. There was one large bathroom, with tub/shower.
Kitchen was very well equipped, could have cooked gourmet meals if so inclined!
Problems or Bonuses
Surprised how perfect the location actually was, and how at home we felt here. Really an unbeatable location.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We had extensive e-mail correspondence with the owner, Francine, prior to our stay. She met us at the apartment, showed us around and told us how everything worked. She also gave us her cell phone number as well as her daughter's in case we had any problems or questions. She speaks beautiful English. We paid €140 per night in March of 2007, and felt it was well worth the price.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I can't wait to go back! I've recommended it to our friends already. If and when we can get back to Paris, we hope to stay in Francine's apartment again.
Things to do in this area
About a block from the apartment, you can get those wonderful rotisserie chickens with the roasted potatoes! And of course, you can't beat Paul's for breakfast and also for a loaf of bread for dinner. Eric Kayser's is also just around the corner.
The grocery is just down the block, and you can get some good wine there also. We were with our two teen grandsons, so tried to eat in as much as possible to save on costs.
