Vacation rentals in France (farms, cottages, gites, apartments)
Review 3341: Paris Luxury Rentals, Saint Guillaume
3bed/3bath in 6th arrondissement, Paris
January 2008, 2 weeks
The apartment is in St. Germain on a quiet street off the Blvd. St Germain. It was a five minute walk from the metro stop rue du Bac, which was really convenient.
There was this incredible bakery five minutes away called La patisserie Laduree. It was the most adorable place and they had the best macarons I've ever had in my life! If you're in the neighborhood you Have to try them.
Also, we were a quick a 10 minute walk from Le Bon Marche, which is one of the best grocery stores in Paris. If you've ever been to Dean and DeLucca this is even better.
The apartment was great because we are a family of six and used to having to downsize on our trips to Europe. We live in a 3,000 sq. ft. home in Maine and it was such a relief to not have to wait in line for the bathroom or squeeze onto a couch. In addition to its size, the Saint Guillaume apartment is nicely decorated, has a decent amount of natural light, and an exercise room (in case you go overboard at the La patisserie Laduree!)

The furniture was contemporary designer ware, in great shape and taste. The linens were satisfactory and the beds were heavenly.
The kitchen was really well equipped and pleasant to use. It makes a big difference in a two week vacation if you don't have to eat out at restaurant for every single meal. Obviously the restaurant fare in Paris is half of the draw but it can be really heavy to eat out all the time. Some nights you just want something light. It was great to have a nice, big kitchen to cook in whenever we felt like it.
Problems or Bonuses
A nice woman named Fadela greeted us at the apartment. She booked us a minivan to take us to the airport at the end of our trip and told us to call her if we had any problems. We did have problems with the cable and she came back to help us with the enigmatic remote control. Speaking of which, there were a bunch of English channels on the cable. My kids were happy and so was my husband, who was able to watch the football play-offs. To his surprise, there are no commercials during the game in France, something my husband hasn't seen since he was a teenager!
Also, the apartment has wireless Internet and even free outgoing call to the U.S.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Patrick was the Paris Luxury Rental agent that we spoke with. We contacted him through parisluxuryrentals.com and he called us back the same day with loads of information about the types of apartments they had available for our dates, different neighborhoods, even restaurants in the area. He advised us to stay in the Saint Guillaume apartment because there were six of us and it turned out to be the perfect sized place for us.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely! Paris Luxury Rentals is a great service. Whether it's your first time in Paris or (like me and my family) you've been around the block, they are friendly and helpful and most importantly honest.
