Review 343: Bond Agency, Romance
studio apartment in Montmartre, Paris
Summer 2002, 1 week
The apartment was in the 9th on Rue Rochechouart at Rue Dunkurque, five minutes from Gare du Nord. It was a 15 minute walk up to the top of Sacre Couer and is out of the Place Pigalle seedy area. It was a residential neighbourhood with many boulangeries, charcuteries, etc., and less than two minutes from Metro Anvers.
The building looked a bit tatty from the outside, as many of them do, but it was a nice four storey building and the unit was at the back overlooking a courtyard.
The unit itself was very modern and open plan - the only actual room was the bathroom which was lovely. It was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was fully equipped although it did not have an oven (but a very high tech microwave) and had only two burners. There was a t.v., dvd player, bang and olufson stereo, ligne rosset furniture, etc. Videos and c.d.'s were also provided, along with numerous books, both reference and fiction. Towels, linens and housecoats were provided and when we arrived there was milk, juice, wine and champagne in the fridge (which you replenish when you leave).
Very nice and we would not hesitate to stay there again. It cost us 130 euros per night. The unit is called "romance" in Montmartre and is available through Bond Vacation Apartments.
