Review 3495: France For Rent, LQ105 - Notre Dame Terrace

Review by Mark W from MO

1bed/1bath apartment in 5th arrondissement, Paris

April 2008, One week

Perfect. One block from the Seine, on the Left Bank across from Notre Dame. Street is quiet and feels secluded, but is close to everything. Street has foot traffic with very little auto traffic, but only a block to major roads. Awesome.

Nearby Amenities

Close to two Metro stops. Walk to everything - shops, groceries, restaurants, book stores, tourist sites, cafes ... everything. I found a nice art store just down the street. We picked up pastries just down the street nearly every day. Banks/ATMs just down the block, too.

If you like to walk (and everyone is Paris does!), you can get to just about everything from here.

The House/Apartment

Excellent condition. Most importantly, everything in the apartment was exactly as described during our online booking process. Elevator and stairs led to the apartment up one floor. The apartment has the only terrace on the street - small but nice to enjoy a glass of wine and a book in the afternoon. The terrace is off of the master bedroom, which was spacious with ample closet space for two people. The kitchen was small but modern with fully functioning equipment and all the kitchen items you will need. Very nice. The main living area was just as described, with couch, TV, coffee table, soft chair, computer connections, and nice artworks on the walls ... and the rug was so soft we wanted to bring it home!

The living room has French windows that open and look out over an interior courtyard with lots of plants. Very nice listening to the birds singing in the morning even in the heart of Paris.

Bathroom is modern and the Jacuzzi works great after a long day out on the town.

While there are other occupied units in the building, we didn't see anyone during our week.

All in all - exactly as promised and wonderful. (Did I mention the fireplace?!)

You can view the property directly: Notre Dame Terrace.

No outside space, except the small terrace balcony off of the bedroom, which was nice. The interior courtyard can be viewed from the living room.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture was modern, soft, comfortable, and in excellent condition. The condition of the apartment was superb - very clean and obviously well cared for.

One master bedroom with a large bed (two beds together) which was very comfortable. Lots of blankets and comforters available. The bathroom, as described above, was in excellent condition.

Perfect. Not large, but everything you need is here. Modern, high quality equipment. Microwave, dishwasher, small washer/dryer, etc.

Problems or Bonuses

Everything was good. Most importantly, no surprises. Everything was just as described. If there was a surprise, it was simply that the furnishings were all extremely comfortable!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

This apartment was booked online and the correspondence with Emeline was always clear, thorough and friendly. Questions were answered within a day, confirmations were sent with all details needed. We took advantage of an optional limo service to provide a driver to/from the airport to the apartment. We were met at the airport exactly as planned.

Upon arriving at the apartment we were met by Frederic, as planned, and he showed us the apartment and explained how all of the appliances worked. He spoke accented English, but well.

Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the booking and logistics process. It made our vacation convenient and stress free. Much better than a hotel!

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Absolutely, we would stay here again. I would let my mother stay here! No changes recommended - book it and enjoy it.

Things to do in this area

It's Paris. We did everything!
