Vacation rentals in France (farms, cottages, gites, apartments)
Review 3725: Paris Reference, 23 Rue du Moulin Vert (# 110)
1bed/1bath apartment in 14th arrondissement, Paris
July 20 to 27, 2008, 1 week
It's just south of Paris ancient town, still in the center, 1800s buildings, low rise, Paris at its best. Metro around the corner, velib stop around the corner, bus 38 takes you to the Latin Quarter or the Marais in a few minutes. Walking or cycling downtown is perfectly fine.
There are plenty of restaurants, movie theaters, groceries and supermarkets in the surrounding area. I would say within five minute walk you can choose between five cafès, four restaurants, three supermarkets and 10 take away food.
Historical building in good shape. Third floor in a five floor building; I think there is only one apartment per floor. No elevator. Very quiet. Very functional. It used to be an artist's studio, painter, with very high ceiling and windows.
No outdoor area.
Very clean, very functional. Wireless Internet, phone, satelite TV.
Bathroom is split in two different levels with the toilet downstairs and the bath tub, sink, bidet, upstairs. Bedroom is tiny and cozy, downstairs in the living there is a sofabed for guests. Altogether I found it quite comfortable.
Very small but functional, with microwave and all is needed.
Problems or Bonuses
Rue de Moulin Vert was a Pure dream. The moment I entered the flat I could sense the spirit of life in Paris. With a very delicate and special taste all the rooms have been decorated in a sense of purity and excellence. Walking over the old wooden parquet which could tell endless past time stories the huge old window welcomed the bright sun shining in. Turning around the best should unfold upon me. The steps leading to the second floor of the maisonette made me feel like a little queen. A bathroom with an old fashioned bathtub was the ultimate hit for a foam bath to come. A peaceful heavenly sleep was guaranteed in the cute sleeping cabinet providing an overview over my most favorite Paris backyards. Last but not least even the toilet had an exciting view to offer, allowing you to observe the pigeons sitting on the chimneys indulging the sun setting.
So this flat could not be topped by anything for me ... except the delicious greasy croissants from the bakery at the corner of Rue de Moulin Vert and Rue des Plantes ... another heaven!
