3bed/2bath townhouse in Le Bugue, Aquitaine WhenSeptember 2008, 1 week LocationWonderful location with the front door on a main street in the pretty village of LeBugue. But not noisy because the main living areas are in the back of the house facing the river. Easy access to highways and short distances to many historical and interesting sites in this fascinating part of France. Sarlat, Les Eysies and the castles of Beynac and Castelnaud are short day trips through the lovely countryside. Nearby AmenitiesSteps away from a wonderful bakery for morning croissants and "sacristans", the house could not have a better location. Morning markets are held Tuesday and Saturday just down the road and you can walk to several restaurants. There is a beautiful grocery store just on the other side of the bridge, a very short drive away. The House/ApartmentIt is a townhouse and so is right next to other homes. Over 100 years old, the house has been refurbished and is bright, airy and clean. There are three floors with nice new kitchen, living area and powder room on the ground floor, two bedrooms and a huge bathroom on the first floor and up a narrow staircase to a third large bedroom and huge bathroom. Everything is fresh and new. And everything you need has been provided, TV with English channels, CD player, DVD player, even movies and CDs to play if you are so inclined. You can view the property directly: 19 Rue de la Republique. GardenThe house backs on the river Vezere and the terrace is gorgeous! We ate our dinner out there almost every evening watching the sunset with our nice bottle of wine. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasNicely furnished. Very clean. Dining table and chairs inside and outside provide plenty of comfortable seating. Bedrooms/BathroomsComfortable beds and bright airy bedrooms were great but the bathrooms are outstanding. Spacious and well fitted. KitchenA nice new kitchen with everything you need provided. Problems or BonusesThe only surprise would be that the place looks even better in real life that it does in the brochure. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owners, Toni and Mike, were very helpful and answered questions by email before we travelled. They are great hosts and were there to greet us when we arrived. They left us a bottle of wine as well as some local cheese and a bottle of milk so we were set up well on arrival.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend this place to anyone. Things to do in this areaLots to see in the area. Sarlat of course and even though it is a bit further away... I would recommend a trip to Roccamadour, it is well worth the visit and while you are there do not miss Le Gouffre de Payirac.
