Review 3913: Owner, Appartement de charme
1bed/1bath apartment in 4th arrondissement, Paris
October 2008, 1 week
The apartment was located in the 4th arrondissement on the 4th floor of a building that was mainly filled with lawyers' offices. It was on the pedestrianized part of Rue Saint Martin a couple of blocks from the Seine. The Hotel de Ville Metro station was a couple minutes walk away, there were bus stops near by and a Velib station a block or two away. The Tour Saint Jacques was at the end of the street and served as our landmark, you could see it from almost everywhere.
The apartment was within easy walking distance to several grocery stories, numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. There was a Monoprix, a Franprix and a G20 market all within several blocks of the apartment as well as a small grocery that stayed open late right around the corner.
The building was quiet, clean and well kept. There was a key pad outside to gain entry. The windows were doubled glazed so we heard no noises from outside.
No outside sitting area.
The furniture was new and comfortable, there was a couch and several chairs as well as the double bed. The apartment was clean and welcoming. There was a desk that we used for our laptop, there is a high speed Internet connection and a phone with free calls.
There was a double bed, a bit low to the ground but very comfortable. The bedroom was large with plenty of light and space, there was a large window in both the bedroom and the living room. There was a lot of closet space that allowed for everything we brought, clothes and suitcases to be stored. There was a washing machine that we used once to do a load of clothes, there was a drying rack and a heated towel rack to dry clothes.
We cooked in the kitchen several times and sat and had coffee and pastries from the boulangerie a couple of doors down several days. There is a small table and two chairs in the kitchen. There was plenty of plates, cups, cutlery, pots and pans and utensils. There was also some basic supplies, oil, milk, salt, etc as well as cookies, bread and champagne left to welcome us. Also soap, washing up liquid, dish drainer, towels, everything you would need.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The owner was very helpful during the rental process, though French, she spoke good English and lived right next door. She allowed us to check in early in the day and let us leave our luggage at her place all day on the day we left since we had a late flight. She was interested in things she could add or change for future rentals. We paid €700 for a week in October.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation rental in Paris.
Things to do in this area
There was a boulangerie that we went to most days to get sweets, Amorino gelato was a bit further down Rue Saint Martin. The Pompidou museum is a few blocks away. It is an area loaded with things to see and do and places to eat or just hang out.
