Review 4090: Paris Apartment Rentals, Rue Poissonniere

Review by walkershel from CA

1bed/1bath apartment in 2nd arrondissement, Paris

April 3-10, 2009, 1 week

Location was great! Just steps from the Rue Montogueil Market street with many great shops and restaurants. Also two minutes to the Sentier metro stop. Within walking distance to Les Halles, The Seine, The Louvre, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, etc. Located in the middle of the garment district with many wholesale shops. We got some great deals at Valege, a French lingerie store.

Nearby Amenities

Everything that we needed was within walking distance and at most just a few blocks away including: several grocery stores, a place to do laundry, metro stops, banks/ATMs, restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

The House/Apartment

The building which housed the apartment was in fine shape. You entered through a hallway from the street that led to a little courtyard. The apartment itself was located up one easy flight of stairs. The building was fairly peaceful and quiet. As mentioned in a previous review, we could hear people coming and going on the stairs, but it was not really bothersome. The apartment had two large windows which looked down on the courtyard below.

You can view the property directly: Rue Poissonniere. You can also see another review for this property here.

No other real building amenities. The courtyard was pleasant with plants and such but no real sitting area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was really clean. There was ample sitting space for our group of four. While the apartment only sleeps four people, more could have been accommodated for a meal or entertaining. Everything was well laid out for the small size of the place and was perfectly sized for our group of three adults and one child.

The beds were very comfortable-a necessity after a long day of touring the city. My 7-year old loved sleeping in the loft bed with me and my sister and nephew took the small bedroom with the bunks. The bathroom was large and had ample amenities including towels and a blow dryer. The hot water did run out quickly, so showers had to be relatively short. We learned our lesson the first day and got on just fine after that by staggering our showers. It was nice to have the "water closet" separate from the main bathroom.

The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare a meal and we did so several times. There were plenty of dishes for our group. The fridge was nicely sized and having a microwave was a plus. The stove was a bit tricky at first to operate, but we eventually figured it out.

Problems or Bonuses

There was ample storage space for our luggage beneath the bunks as well as closet space in the bedroom. In addition there was a desk with drawer space in the living room as well as a corner hutch cabinet. The laptop and Internet access were a HUGE bonus! It was great to be able to upload our photos and share them with the folks back home each night. It was also a good way to stay connected to home.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I worked with Thierry (the owner) directly through email. He was very quick to respond to my questions and the price was very reasonable to me at 650 for a seven-night stay. Also, Thierry's daughter lives in the apartment across the hall and was very helpful in assisting us in ordering a taxi to the airport at departure.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would absolutely stay here again! Loved the location, couldn't beat the price and it had everything we needed for our stay.

Things to do in this area

Little Italy was an AWESOME restaurant on Rue Montorgueil with great service and tasty food. We loved it so much that we ate their twice!
