Review 4133: Yellow Stay, Stylish Trocadero 1 Bedroom Apartment

Review by Larrianne from CA

1bed/1bath apartment in the 16th arrondissement, Paris

December 2008, Six nights

The ground floor apartment is located in the 16 arrondissement and is about 0.3 km from the Rue de la Pompe metro station. I did like the area but I liked all that I saw of Paris and it was my first time there.

Nearby Amenities

There are restaurants, coffee shops and grocery stores in the near vicinity as I am sure it is typical of Paris.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was quite peaceful EXCEPT for the upstairs neighbor who walked around at all hours of the night in what sounded like stilettos. Clomp, clomp, clomp all night long. The only way I could sleep was by listening to my iPod.

You can view the property directly: Stylish Trocadero.

I was there in December so didn't notice any areas outside to sit and if there was, it would be shared.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was fine. Not memorable. My friend slept on the hide-a-bed and she survived. Everything seemed in fine shape. The washer and dryer worked perfectly. The apartment was clean enough and there were plenty of chairs for sitting. The CD player didn't work but the TV and DVD player did though it took awhile to figure out how to get the DVD player to work. We could not get the supposedly long distance phone service to work. There wasn't much information in the apartment to help a tourist locate services in the area.

The bedroom was satisfactory and the bed was quite comfortable. The linens were fine but not plush. The bathroom had a fine shower in the tub. Everything was in fine working order but there was not enough toilet paper to last even 24 hours so our first job was to find a store that sold some. (We happened on a shop that sold British goods so that was where we made that purchase and had a delightful time with the clerk there. Not sure I could find that shop again.)

The kitchen was small but workable. Had no trouble figuring out how to make things work and we did have several meals there. The pots and pans and dishes were satisfactory and appeared clean. The kitchen was a little small to enjoy cooking there.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises either way.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I did not book the apartment. My friend did and she seemed to be satisfied with her treatment. We paid $600.00 for six nights in the winter. The posted price now is 130 a night.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I might stay here again but would rather try somewhere else that might not have a night-walker overhead. Marble floors are very beautiful but very noisy!

Things to do in this area

The food we found was fine but not outstanding. We loved the Eiffel Tower and riding the Metro. The Montmartre area was our favorite area. I found that the Notre Dame Cathedral has free organ concerts on Sunday. Across the street from the apartment is a second hand store that sells second hand Dior, Givenchy, etc.! What a surprise. We did feel that eyes were on us the whole time we were in the shop.
