1bed/1bath apartment in 3rd arrondissment, Paris WhenJune 2009, 3 nights LocationThe location had its positive and negatives. Rue St. Martin is a bit busy, and the area around Pompidou Center is very touristy. (The apt is a half a block from the Centre Pompitou.) The cafes below the apartment (which is on the fourth floor) have loud customers until very late (2am). Double-paned windows help, and my teens never even heard the noise, but if you're a light sleeper (like me), you should definitely bring ear plugs or take a sleeping aid. Nearby AmenitiesSeveral cafes, a grocery store, a bakery and more are all right on the same block. Also very close were subways, shopping, restaurants, creperies, museums, and velibs. The House/ApartmentThe building had security, and it was clean and in good shape. You can view the property directly: Pompidou Home. GardenThere was not an outside sitting area or patio, but there were nice cafes to sit in downstairs. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was spotless. The apartment had a very spacious living room, and the furniture was comfortable and plentiful. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedroom was small, and the sleeping alcove adjacent to the living room has no privacy. This didn't bother us, as our teens were sleeping there and we knew that. The beds were all comfortable, but the linens in the bedroom bed were not that comfortable. The bathroom was great. Not much pressure in the shower head, but that's a minor detail, I think. KitchenWe really didn't use the kitchen other than to store drinks in the refrigerator, but it looked nice enough. Problems or BonusesThe apartment was just like the photos -- no surprises except the noise. Agency and Representatives (and price)Price was good, and they allow short stays (with a surcharge), which we needed. Agency was very easy to deal with. It was also nice that we could pay ahead with our credit card, since it's an American company. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Although we were very happy here, I probably would not stay here again -- mostly because of the evening noise and because I'd want to stay in a more charming neighborhood. Because we were limited on time and in budget this time, this apartment fit the bill for this trip. Things to do in this areaEverything in Paris that you would want to see is easily accessible by subway or walking. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
