Studio apartment in 7th arrondissement, Paris WhenOct 2009, 1 week LocationApartment was in a great location. Located right across the street from Vaneau station in the 7th district. Very posh, safe neighbourhood. Nearby AmenitiesGrocery store two minutes from the apartment. Apartment is located on Rue Sevres (a major street) that is close to Rue St. Germain - many bakeries, coffee shops near by. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is in a typical French building. There are large doors that you enter from the main street, and go through a courtyard to the back to reach the apartment. There are many apartments in the building, but it was very quiet. The courtyard was nice and green and we felt very safe. I don't think there were other rentals in the building. All other occupants are Parisians in the building. The apartment itself is a studio, but the kitchen is facing away from the bed, so it did not feel as though you were cooking where you were sleeping. There was a lot more room in the apartment than I expected (especially for Paris!). The bathroom was tiny but definitely clean and in good working order. Really good water pressure. Note that the shower is quite high off the ground, and more elderly people may have problems with stepping in and out of the small tub. GardenThere was a courtyard - did not sit there. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasApartment was very clean. Furniture was in great shape. I found the bed to be very comfortable. It was nice that it was a "real" bed and not a sofa bed. Sheets were great - clean and soft. There are two chairs and a table. Good enough for small meals. This studio comfortably fits two people. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean (and I'm quite picky!) but very small. KitchenKitchen was surprisingly usable. We were pleasantly surprised with how well stocked it was. There was a bottle of sparkling wine for our arrival. They also stocked it with a carton of juice and milk. There was also ketchup, tea, instant coffee, pepper, spices, and oil. There were plenty of pots, pans, cups, plates. Lots of cooking and eating utensils. Pretty much anything you needed for basic cooking was there. Everything was very good quality so it was a lot of fun getting to know the little kitchen and making our breakfasts and small pasta dinners there. Problems or BonusesPleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was. Pleasantly surprised that there were clean bathrobes and thick good quality towels. Pleasantly surprised that the toilet flushed very well and there was a good fan in the washroom. Pleasantly surprised at the decor and cute and cozy it all was. Pleasantly surprised with the extra books and CDs provided. Not so happy that there is a window in the bathroom door, with a sheer curtain covering it. Not a big deal, for privacy we hung up towel so that you couldn't see through. Agency and Representatives (and price)Agency was fast and responsive. They are based in New Jersey and spoke English. Only problem is that the owner messed up our leaving date and sent the cleaning lady in one day early!! It was a bit stressful and shocking to find the cleaning lady there the day before we were leaving! But the cleaning lady called the owner and turns out it was the owner's mistake. No harm done (the cleaning lady was very nice) and we got clean sheets and towels for our last day. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes! The apartment was nicer in person than in the photos. There were some mixups in times for pickup and leaving with the owner, but I think it was an isolated incident. Met the owner briefly to pick up the keys and she was very nice. Things to do in this areaThere is a grocery store just down the street (shopi). Good cafes everywhere - check out Bon Marche's Epicarie for treats to bring home to family. Good bakery (called Jules?) just a little north on Rue Sevres.
