1bed/1bath apartment in the Marais, Paris WhenSeptember 2009, 6 weeks LocationFor six weeks we stayed in this wonderful apartment in the Marais. It was everything you could have asked for - well equipped, comfortable and a real home away from home. Situated on the fourth floor (no lift) with a quaint circular staircase. Nearby AmenitiesEverything you needed was close by. Bakeries, patisseries, cafes, restaurants and the supermarket 'Monoprix' opposite. Further up the road were another two supermarkets, and being in the heart of the Marais, wonderful shops. St Paul metro about two minutes walk. A short walk to the other end of Rue St Paul brought you to the Seine. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was in the centre of the Marais district. The lounge consisted of a sofa bed, TV/DVD, small dining table and chairs, coffee table, fireplace, reading lamps, two full length double glazed windows with shutters and lots of maps and information about Paris. The bedroom also had the full length windows plus comfy double bed and wardrobe. Bathroom was modern with basin, toilet and bath with shower over it. Kitchen well equipped with breakfast bar, washing machine, four hotplates and oven, and all the utensils/crockery you would require. GardenBeing on the fourth floor there was no garden or terrace, but just sitting by the window and watching Parisian life more than made up for it! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good condition and all very comfortable. The apartment was very clean when we arrived. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe double bed was great and change of linen supplied. Bathroom was fresh and clean. KitchenKitchen had everything that you could want and more. Very thoughtful owners who had supplied everything for a great stay. Agency and Representatives (and price)We rented this apartment through Pascal at Rental France. Throughout all our dealings with him, both prior and during our stay, he has been excellent. We had a problem with the bathroom door sticking and within two days he had it repaired. When we arrived his off-sider, Regis, met us at the apartment and ran through everything, making sure that we knew how everything worked. Both Pascal and Regis spoke excellent English. I can highly recommend Rental France and Pascal and the apartment on the website is an accurate description of the accommodation. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone who wanted a central apartment close to all amenities and within easy walking distance to most sights. Place des Voges about a five minute walk away, the Louvre 15 minutes. Things to do in this areaOne of our favourite restaurants was around the corner in Rue Charlemagne called 'La Framboisy' - try the sucking pig! Also loved the patisserie 'Miss Manon' on the corner of our street, the bakery 'Paul' further up the road and 'Dome' cafe opposite. Too many wonderful things to see and do in this area and so many eateries. Cant wait to go back. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
