3bed/1.5bath house in Domazon near Avignon, Provence

When

April 2 - 8 2010, 1 week

Location

La Maison Domazan was located in the medieval village of Domazan, about twenty minutes away from Avignon in Provence. The area was stunningly beautiful, a very picturesque village full of charm and winding narrow streets in the quiet French countryside. The major noise came from birds and the town clock that chimed every hour. We were extremely pleased with the area.

Nearby Amenities

The village itself housed a small grocer, a church, a pub and a bakery, plus a hair salon. The staples of life. For a big shopping trip we went to a nearby town that had a big grocery store about 15 minutes away. It was all very easy and accessible.

The House/Apartment

The beautiful stone villa was built in 1400! It had recently been renovated with all modern touches but still maintained its old world charm. We were very happy with the layout of everything and it was very comfortable.

You can view the property directly: La Maison Domazan.

Garden

Directly outside the kitchen was a wonderful terrace where we could sit and eat our meals, weather permitting. The view of the village was pretty yet very private.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The house was everything we could ask for - comfortable and yet very chic in a Provence kind of way. Very clean and enough cozy spots for all of us, two parents and four children, ranging in age from 22 - 15.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedrooms were lovely, two were in separate rooms and one bedroom was in a loft over the living room. The beds were deliciously comfortable and I will always remember drifting off to the sound of the chiming village clock tower. There was a master bath that was pretty with a temporarily disconnected shower and functioning tub, big and bright with lovely tile. There was a powder room on the first floor.

Kitchen

The kitchen was great! Nicely stocked with spices and non perishables and we cooked big meals in it often. It was very user friendly and once we figured out the difference in temperature settings we were cooking!

Problems or Bonuses

I feel like the whole experience was a bonus. The villa was a delightful surprise and we enjoyed everything about it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet beautiful village vacation. Perfect.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We booked this with RentVillas and my travel adviser there was Kate. She was extremely helpful and very prompt in getting back to me. The office was located in California which made communication easy. The details of the villa were very good and answered all my questions.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would positively stay there again! And I would recommend it to everyone.

Things to do in this area

We chose this site based on its near location to the places we wanted to see. We toured all around Provence, from Marseilles, to Aix, to Avignon to Rousillon, Lourmarin, Pont du Gard, Nimes. We ate lunch out at different cafes and then had dinner and breakfast at the villa, and I cooked. There was plenty to do or not do. Very relaxing. Something we will remember forever.
