L'Ancienne Poste is located in the quiet, quaint village of Menerbes. The locale is perfect. The local village is quiet but has a few restaurants, shops, food stores. It's just right in that it's not totally overrun with tourists, but has the needed businesses so you don't have to drive everywhere to do everything. It is centrally located to many, many other villages and towns that a visitor definitely wants to see, within easy driving distances.

Nearby Amenities

You can walk to coffee, groceries, several restaurants, cafes, (and a GREAT little pizza place).

The House/Apartment

The L'Ancienne Poste is very historical (was the old Post Office) and was recently totally rebuilt in an amazing fashion. It is very contemporary and new, but is built up against a huge rock wall. In fact, the rock wall is the back wall of the interior of the home. Very interesting and my daughter-in-law walked in and just screamed, "This is my dream home!" It is located at the edge of the town with the most amazing view of vineyards, the entire valley, and mountains in the distance, along with several other towns (Gordes, Rousillon and others). The artwork in the home is incredible ... from countries all over the world and the owner has nicely included documentation of each piece and where it comes from. This is just the most amazing, comfortable and wonderful place to spend a week (or more!).

Wow! There is a deck roof that allows for wonderful evenings as the sun sets over one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. A nice glass of wine and appetizers makes for such a wonderful memory. The view from up there (the fourth floor of the building) is to die for.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Great furniture for comfortable relaxing in the common areas. Plenty of seating for everyone and everything was nicely cleaned.

The beds are great, the linens are top notch, the toiletries are from L'Occitane and so nice. Everyone had their own bathroom and each had lots of space and storage for personal items.

Yes, we ate in and didn't have any difficulties with a missing pot, pan, or appliance. We had great meals there with all the fresh food and produce available in the area. Plenty of utensils for our family.

Problems or Bonuses

None I can even recall.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We dealt directly with the owner. He is very responsive and reasonable. He is (understandably) protective of his investment and so the security deposit is required (which I would do if I owned the place) as well. But the deposit has already been returned, less than a week after we left. We felt the price was reasonable compared to others we looked for in our search. Now that we've been there and seen how spectacular the home is, we think we got a great deal. The owner speaks English, French, and probably many other languages as he is a world traveler with tons of experience in the field.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, we have already and will continue to recommend the place. We would love to go back ourselves, if we find our travels taking us back to this part of France. No qualifications ... the location is perfect, the home is more than perfect, and we had a wonderful time.

Things to do in this area

The little Pizza place in Menerbes is so quaint, friendly and has great options on very special pizza. The market in town has most everything you need. The Boulangerie in town is cute (better get there in the morning because they can run out of nice crusty baguettes).
