1bed/1bath apartment in 15th arrondissement, Paris

When

December 2009, a week

Location

I loved staying here. Located in a peaceful residential area, the apartment was easily reached by metro. The location was nice to stay, not touristy, gave a feeling of what it was like living like a Parisian.

Nearby Amenities

The apartment building is surrounded by typical little French shops. Supermarkets and street markets were within walking distance. Many nice cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood.

The closest metro station was only a stone's throw away.

The House/Apartment

It was a nice, well-maintained, quiet apartment building. It was close to amenities and services were easy to find in the area.

Garden

There was a nice public park nearby, with playground area for children.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was really comfortable with a homey feeling. The living room was cozy. It was fully furnished and well equipped with everything I needed. The furniture was in a good condition. I had a very nice stay here.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Good bed, clean bathroom, and it had two more single beds in the living room. The place easily accommodated four people.

Kitchen

The full kitchen was quiet spacious, equipped with good cooking ware and eating utensils. I got all the appliances needed to start my day: toaster and coffee maker :).

We sometimes prepared simple dinners when we didn't feel like going out, and it was fun. Grocery shopping was quickly and easily done in the nearby supermarket. We found everything we needed to arrange nice dinners.

Problems or Bonuses

I thoroughly enjoyed my staying in the apartment. The only bad thing was it was booked so fast. I planned to stay here again after my business meeting (the hotel was provided by the office during the meeting) with no luck, I had to find another place to stay. I wish I had my meeting schedule faster so I would've booked the place in advance.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Booking was very easy and to my surprise, there was no need for safe-deposit. Philippe, of course spoke perfect English. We booked through the website beau-paris, the down payment was sent via PayPal.

He helped us a bit with our itinerary, the locals always had more good ideas what to do.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This place was recommended by a friend who stayed here before. And I'm glad he did. The price was reasonable, I personally think it was cheaper than I'd have paid if I stayed in a hotel.

My sister didn't like the idea of staying in an apartment before, but she actually thanked me later for 'assuring' her to do it. She thought it would be hassle and unpractical than staying in a hotel, but then she enjoyed 'playing' as a Parisian. She always wanted to live in Paris. It was great to see my sister fulfill her long time obsession of 'being a Parisian' - though it was only for few days.

Things to do in this area

We had nice lunch in some restaurants here. Since it wasn't in touristic area, the price was reasonable for Paris standard.

We found the Pizza Flora in the neighborhood, which turned out to be an excellent Italian restaurant, not only serving pizza. A bit noisy but they open until quite late at night and the food makes my mouth water just thinking back on dinner here.

Close to the Pasteur metro station, a small restaurant, Hinno's place, served simple French food with excellent value, and real family atmosphere. The kind of place where you see the same people sit every night.

My sister and I also loved to spend time at the cafes. Our favorite were L'Angle and the General Beuret. A great place to sit and watch and practice my French. On the Lecourbe street, there was one of the oldest coffee providers in France: Les Comptoirs Richard. A good place to taste and buy many kinds of coffees.

From here, we sometimes walked to the Eiffel Tower to watch it glisten in the evening, which was only 20 minutes away. Or if the weather was warm enough, we went to the Public Park next to the Vaugirard metro station.
