Review 5093: Rental France, Rue Des Chartreux

Review by dustglittervapor from VA

2bed/1bath apartment in the 6th arrondissement, Paris

July 2011, July 2-July 30

The location is perfect!! It's an easy walk to grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, bus stops, RER and Metro stations, and the Luxembourg Gardens. We loved walking in the Luxembourg Gardens every night after dinner. We walked to the Pantheon, the Cluny, the Bon Marché and St. Sulpice. We probably could have walked to Notre Dame if we really wanted to. (The 38 bus is easy to walk to and stops near the Notre Dame.) Even though it's close to all these things, it's in a non-touristy residential area so it's very quiet at night and peaceful during the day. The neighborhood is upscale and safe.

Nearby Amenities

There is an excellent bakery on the corner (Kayser), the Bar des Chartreux is next door, and a small restaurant is on the same block. It's an easy walk (2-3 blocks) to either a Franprix or Dia grocery store. Near the Franprix are two pharmacies. Also on Boulevard St. Michel there are many cafes and restaurants, clothing stores, etc. We took a bus to the Monoprix only because we were carrying a lot of bags.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is very quiet and peaceful. All windows face a courtyard, and when the windows were closed there was very little noise. The building is very nice, with a small elevator.

No outside sitting area, and no pool, but they were not missed.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment is clean, although some of the bed linens and the sofa may seem a little worn. The beds were very comfortable. The sofa was fine. There is a huge flat-screen TV.

The bedrooms were very nice, the beds were comfortable. The apartment is light and bright. We closed the shutters and drapes every night to block out the light. There is one bathroom. The heated towel rack is a nice touch. The tub/shower is high and very awkward to get into and out of. We made a little footstool, which helped. Don't grab onto the heated towel rack getting in and out of the shower!

The kitchen has a washer/dryer, stove-top, microwave/toaster oven, sink, toaster, and coffeemaker. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pots and pans, plates, glasses, mugs, etc. It is very functional, we made many meals in it.

Problems or Bonuses

None. We were very pleased.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Pascal, the owner of Rental France, was a pleasure to work with. He is very professional and responsive. I recommend him highly and will use Rental France again.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I recommend this apartment, and would definitely stay there again.
