1bed/1bath apartment in Marais, Paris WhenOctober 2011, 1 week LocationElegance Rosiers is located on rue des Rosiers in the Marais district - the street that provides a number of falafel options, as well as many nearby shops, restaurants and boulangeries. Our 30-year-old daughter said that this area offers the best shopping in all of Paris - and she explored a lot of areas of the city. It is less than a two-minute walk to the Metro (Saint-Paul) and only a few minutes to the Place des Vosges. The streets in the area are very busy on weekends. It is an excellent area of Paris to use as a base for a visit. Nearby AmenitiesEverything is close at hand, including a supermarket and wine shop on rue St-Antoine. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is located on the fourth floor of an 18th century building, up four flights of wooden stairs - no elevator. The apartment was quiet and peaceful - no outside noise from the street below. The only exterior sounds were the comings and goings of people in the neighbouring apartment. GardenNo outside area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was renovated to a very high standard early in 2010. The furnishings, electronics, appliances were all relatively new - flat-screen TV, WiFI, Macintosh computer, free international phone calls, including to mobile phones in North America. The apartment was very clean on arrival. Bedrooms/BathroomsBoth the main bed and the sofa bed were quite comfortable. The bathroom was fine, with a very generous shower space. KitchenThe kitchen was fine for our needs. Pascal indicated that some of the utensils had never been used. Hey, you're in Paris - who wants to do a lot of cooking in your apartment? Problems or BonusesIn addition to the other features of Elegance Rosiers, a very positive asset of this apartment is the owner, Pascal. He greeted us on arrival, personally explained all the features of the apartment (there are also several pages of printed information available), offered many helpful suggestions, and did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. He made sure that a minor issue was addressed quickly and phoned mid-week to check on how we were getting on. There were also several unexpected inclusions - plenty of soap (dish washing, laundry, personal) toilet paper and Nespresso coffee pods!! This apartment used to be available on Parisbestlodge - apparently we were the last rental rental made through that site. Pascal has several additional apartments available, many in the same area, on his Your-Paris site. Agency and Representatives (and price)We paid €950 for the week. We also sent a personal check as a damage deposit when we returned the signed contract. The description on the site accurately reflected the reality on arrival. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I highly recommend Elegance Rosiers and Pascal, our host. The only possible qualification might be the four flights of stairs. Things to do in this areaWell, it's in Paris - plenty of things to do, with lots of choices nearby as well as a few Metro stops away - see my Trip Report for more details.
