Location

"The Stables" are located in the village of St Aignan on the River Cher and one hours drive from Tours. St Aignan is a beautiful village with easy access by car to the chateau's of Cheverny, Chenonceau, and Chambord. Also many villages close by - Loches, Montresor etc

Nearby Amenities

About two doors away was a lovely restaurant - very reasonable with excellent food. In St Aignan there were numerous coffee shops, boulongerie etc plus a supermarket about five minutes drive away.

The House/Apartment

The Stables sit to the side of the main house and have been wonderfully converted into a 2bed/2bath property. Although on a road leading to the town centre, it was surprisingly quiet. Downstairs is the entry hall and kitchen/dining/living area and upstairs two bedrooms with their own large en suites. The bedrooms overlook the River Cher and its stone bridge.

Garden

Outside there was a table/chairs/sun umbrella to use.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was excellent. Dining table and chairs to seat four and comfy sofa. CD player and radio.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Beds were comfortable and bedrooms quite large along with the en suites. As this property has recently been renovated the bathrooms were modern and clean.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very usable with hotplates and oven. Lots of plates, cutlery etc of good quality. Small fridge, kettle, toaster - everything you would need.

Problems or Bonuses

No problems - it was a delight to stay there. Easy two minute walk into the village.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner of the property, Alan Evans, is an Englishman so there were no problems with booking the property. The photos on the website were accurate and the price for an eight day stay was €550.

He also rents out half of the main house which can be viewed on his site www.vuesurcher.fr.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to experience a village holiday in the Loire Valley. Picking up a car just out of Tours at St Pierre des Corps is easy and its an hours drive to St Aignan.

St Aignan is a medieval village on the banks of the River Cher with its own chateau and a lovely little market on Saturday.

I would not hesitate to recommend "The Stables" to anyone and hope to go back one day.
