Review 5372: Paris For Rent, Notre Dame (LQ109)
1bed/1bath apartment in 5th arrondissement, Paris
July 2012, 7 nights
The apartment is directly south of Notre Dame across the Seine. The area is a fantastic mix of restaurants, stores, and other residences. There is a outdoor market nearby which sets up twice a week. Very close to the Maubert-Mutualite metro stop.
Pretty much anything you could want is within easy walking distance. Four restaurants/cafe are within eyesight of the front door. Dozens in the surrounding blocks. Five minute walk to grocery store(s).
Apartment is on the third (second by Parisian standards) floor. Very small elevator available - mostly good for luggage. Stairs wide and easy to navigate, even with bags. Very quite building - don't think we ran into any other tenants during our stay. It's on older building, but with very modern touches including a two-tiered security system to enter the building. Windows open onto Quai de Montebello and with an unbeatable view of Notre Dame.
You can view the property directly: Notre Dame.
No outside area - but pulling up the chairs to the open windows was even nicer!
Apartment newly renovated, so everything is in excellent condition. Very clean and wall furnished. Very large living space by Parisian standards.
Bed was great, shower was great. Again, newly renovated so everything was quite new. Washer and dryer were a great feature - allowed us to leave that much more room in the luggage to haul our goodies back home.
Very nice kitchen - again very new and very well furnished. Could easily cook full meals here.
Problems or Bonuses
When I saw the picture of Notre Dame on the website I was skeptical. Let me assure you, that is indeed what the view out the window looks like. Completely amazing.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Agency was top notch. Helped us arrange transport with an excellent car service. Met a greeter there (an American) who explain everything in the apartment and was a veritable treasure trove of information on the best local places. The whole experience with them was quite pleasant.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely. We will definitely be going back to this apartment in the future. If we do try a different part of the city, we will book through Paris For Rent.
Things to do in this area
Le Reminet is about 10 yards from the building entrance and we had a very nice dinner there one evening. If you're into maps, there is a very cool map shop around the corner from the apartment on Rue Frederic Sauton. Tons of cool stuff on Ile Saint Louis, which is less than five minutes from the apartment. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had.
