1bed/1bath in St. Jeannet, Provence

When

10/20/12, 1 week

Location

Lovely attached gite to great home with very large lot near the village of St Jeannet about 1/2 hour from Nice. Scenic spot under village and "baous" (large hills to me). Easy walk to boulangerie and grocery store. Bus stop near for Nice and all points out of there. This was a well appointed gite and quite large in the living area and bedroom.

Nearby Amenities

One to two minutes to fabulous boulangerie and a couple more to good grocery store. Decent restaurant near also to walk to!

The House/Apartment

The home seemed quite new and the gite laid out for that purpose when built, I believe. All on one floor with separate entrance from the owner's home. Every thing was in excellent working order and comfortable, especially the living room and kitchen.

Garden

As mentioned the home and gite sat on a very large lot facing the village and baous. Well landscaped with good outdoor furniture.

There was no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Very clean upon arrival with ample chairs and couch that pulled out for extra bed if needed. Quite attractive fireplace in the living room. Plenty of seating for one to two couples or small family.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Pretty nice bed but not of the highest quality but acceptable.

The bath was nice with a tub and attached shower wand. There was no shower curtain to pull so bathing was rather awkward with the wand and trying to get in position to use without flooding the floor and to get out. Not for us and we are fairly young and nimble.

Kitchen

Quite workable kitchen with large refrigerator, four-burner stove, microwave. Plenty of utensils to cook a large meal if needed.

Problems or Bonuses

Other than the shower, it was a great location and well furnished. Louis the owner was very hospitable and eager to offer knowledge about the area. His English is so so, however, as is our French so a bit hard to converse.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Rented through Gites de France has a very good set up with PayPal type payment system for ease and economy to make payments vs expensive wires. They explained the gite, terms etc. very well. This regional office is located in Nice and very professional.

The owner also has a website, www.Les-Trois-Baous.com.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Very much so would we recommend the gite due to its condition and very good location and hospitable host. Beware of the bathing facilities however if not so limber to get in and out of a tub.

Things to do in this area

One can easily fill in a week within 100K of the gite with day trips to hill towns such as Vence, St Paul etc as well as seaside towns and cities like Nice by bus. We went to Monaco on a 1E bus from downtown Nice! Plenty of other possibilities without a car I think.

Please take the time to visit the four hill villages just north of Ventimigma Italy - wonderful medieval sites.

Tons of great restaurants in every village and city and shopping and weekly markets like Antibes.
