Food Shops

If you are staying in a vacation rental and doing Slow Travel, you will be shopping for groceries at some point. These pages tell you how to use the different types of stores and what to expect.

Contents

Small Food Shops: My favorite food shops are the small shops in the towns and villages. Nearly every small town has at least one food shop.

Supermarkets: Large "American-style" supermarkets are scattered throughout the countryside.

Natural Foods: You can find small natural foods stores in Italy and some of the supermarkets carry organic and natural foods.

Grocery Shopping in Italy (and France): Overview of grocery shopping in general in Italy and France.

Shopping Carts: The shopping cart system is a bit different in Italy - you put a coin in to release the cart and get it back when you return it. Here are some photos so you will know what to expect.

Photos - Shopping in Cetona: Photos of shops in the small Tuscan town of Cetona.

Photos: Photos of shops in other Tuscany small towns.
