Photos of Food Shops - Casole d'Elsa

Casole d'Elsa is a small town in western Tuscany, south of San Gimignano and Colle di Val d'Elsa. We were surprised to find this wonderful alimentari in the town. It is on the main street, in the center of the town.

They have an excellent deli counter. You can order fresh pesto, olives, preserved vegetables in oil (e.g. eggplant, zucchini, artichokes), etc. Usually you can find enough things in a good deli for a quick meal.

Notice the eggs on the top of the shelf - eggs are not usually refrigerated.

In this picture you can see the dairy case at the back of the store where you can get your milk, butter and yogurt. They have another counter for their cheeses and meats. You can order small amounts of each - just enough for the day.

This is an exceptional selection of noodles and wines. The fresh produce is in bins just in front of this area. This small, pleasant store in this small village has everything you need to prepare wonderful meals at your vacation rental. Plus you get the personalized service and the experience of dealing with people who live in the village. I recommend that you buy most of your groceries from these small village stores.
