Good stay at the Aenea
We booked at the Aenea Superior for a couple of reasons: close but not too close to Termini, and air conditioning.
The hotel is in a residential building a block back from Via Cavour close to Santa Maria Maggiore. The rooms were very nice, with comfortable beds, a clean, nice bathroom, great air conditioning and some small but nice touches.
They have an electric kettle in each room and a basket with coffee, tea, biscuits, Nutella, jam, etc. Each morning they hang a basket outside your room with a pastry and a cornetto for each person.
The staff was very helpful booking restaurants and arranging cab service to the airport, as well as calling the occasional cab for us.
They are not there 24 hours a day, so they provide you with the cell of all three staff members. You call when you are on your way to check in so that they can be sure there is someone there to greet you. They provide keys to the building and the floor of the hotel as well as your room. However, I did find that there was someone around most of the day.
It is a short walk to the forum, and the Via Cavour and Termini stops of the metro. I really liked the Aenea and would definitely go back.
