A great bed and breakfast in a quiet scenic area, on the edge of Volterra.
We had orignially planned to stay at Fagiolari in Panzano but it was all booked. They recommended Podere San Lorenzo instead as it is operated by Marinella, the sister to Giulietta who owns Fagiolari. We really enjoyed it. It was easy to find and all email correspondance was prompt and informative.
We flew into Pisa so this was an easy hour to an hour and a half drive to Volterra. The agriturismo was quiet and we got there earlier than expected, but checking in early was no problem. The room was 85 euros a night for two people with breakfast included the next morning. We also had arranged for dinner that night for 24 euros a person.
Our ground floor room was clean and had a fairly comfortable bed with a small fridge and window screens. The small bathroom was across the hall and we had good water pressure and plenty of hot water, but not a lot of counter space. Well lit bathroom.
There are plenty of benches and sun chairs around the large pool which is fed by a spring. The pool is surrounded by olive trees. This was a wonderful way to spend our first night in Tuscany.
Our dinner was wonderful consisting of local wine, and a four course meal. The staff spoke English well and some German and were helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
