A comfortable agriturismo in the hills of Friuli

We had just one night to spend in Friuli, a bit of a detour on our way from the Slovenian/Italian border to Piran. We found this place on Booking.com. I'm so glad we did.

It was everything an agriturismo should be. This is a real working vineyard, and the harvest was in full swing. The same friendly lady who greeted me was part of a duo working hard into the night, processing baskets and wagons of grapes under our window. We weren't impressed with the valley or the valley towns, but as we drove up into the vineyard covered hills, it started to look like the Italy we were seeking.

This is a large complex of old stone buildings. Our room was on the top floor of the largest. It was a huge attic room, with vast space, a high ceiling, a sofa and a comfortable bed. There were modern amentities like a large flat screen TV - and certainly the coolest shower we'd experienced in a long time! It was indeed a nice bathroom. There was one of those clever little kitchens in an armoire.

Downstairs there was a wine tasting room, a large covered patio, large courtyard and good views. There were various people around to help if you wanted a glass of wine. No one spoke fluent English, but it was enough.

Breakfast was served in another building, and it was wonderful, with especially good sweet things. There is a restaurant about 1 km further on this small road. Delicious, and a nice walk. It was not inexpensive, but I think that it was a good value.
