Lovely Lake Como hotel with good restaurant.

Alberghetto La Marianna is a lovely, simple hotel, on the lake with a gorgeous view. Mgr./owner Paola so helpful. One block from ferries to vist 4 lake towns, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio, etc. 2 front rooms with small balconies, about €100 a night. You can buy a 3-day pass to visit the 4 lake towns.

To top this off, the restaurant downstairs, La Cucina della Marianna operated by Ty Valentini, is strictly gourmet and quite reasonable. They serve on a scenic platform at the lakeside.

Close to Villa Carlotta. There is a slow boat and a fast boat to the city of Como. Best to go on a weekday; many things closed on Sunday. Saw some beautiful silk accessories in store windows.

Never did see George Clooney, darn!
