An oasis of calm in the Veneto.

Hotel Al Sole is right in the heart of this beautiful small hilltown in the Veneto. Asolo has long served as a bolthole for Venetian nobility as it's cooling breezes are welcome relief in the height of Summer.

Today you can still use Asolo as an escape from the excesses of Venice and in this hotel you will find peace, calm, tranquility and a very warm welcome from the Family who recently reopened the hotel after a careful refurbishment.

Our room was large, beautifully cool, stylishly and luxuriously appointed in an understated way. We had a big bed with lovely linens, ample storage, good lighting, a fridge, fresh fruit, a writing desk and a settee and better still no noise from anywhere!

Our showeroom was huge beautifully appointed with the most up to date massaging shower which was simply divine. We enjoyed an abundance of towels, toiletries and everything you could desire. Attention to detail throughout was obviously a priority.

Breakfasts were wonderful, with only the best of everything including coffee. There was an ample buffet that had everything, fresh fruit, pastries, croissants, cereals, very good fruit juice, ham, eggs, cheeses, cake etc. Breakfasts were taken on delightful balcony overlooking the town.

Above all the ambience was relaxed, friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant but staff are happy to make reservations at appropriate establishments. Public rooms and bar are very attractive and feature a cave on the ground floor not far from the high tech public toilet which is so surprising I won't spoil it, just make a reservation and find out for yourself !

A wonderful base for touring many Palladian Villas as well as other jewels of the Veneto including, Vicenza, Treviso and Padua. 4 Stars from about 165 euros a night for a double room but many special offers are available throughout the year.
