Hmmm, well...you know, it only takes a few bad apples to spoil everything.

We had a FABULOUS terrace apartment. BUT... there were two men at the front desk who were bitter about life, just nasty...so my motto "Don't take it personally" applies. There are a few other options in the neighborhood, if you book WAY ahead. (I am intrigued by the Hotel della Pace; some good reviews on SlowTrav.)

Anyway, the location is great, but... that certain something... Well, compared to other places in Italy where they just fell all over heels over us and gave us gifts and said such nice things to us, this hotel lacked a certain warmth... perhaps the two nasty ones are so bitter because they are unappreciated. There were others who I could tell were nice people, but something was just wrong.

I blame it on management. As an antiques dealer and designer, I redesigned this place in my head, moving the breakfast room and opening this up to The Fabulous location; really a lack of imagination here and a staff who knows they're probably not appreciated.
