When: September 2012

Sweet and inexpensive B&B in Torino Centro with a charming hostess.

The first thing I have to say about this B&B is that you have to be in extremely good shape to stay here. Christina's 5 rooms are all on the attic level which is 5 steep flights up without an elevator. Not for the faint of heart!

Cristina was lovely, though her accent is thick and sometimes hard to understand. She is very chatty, so don't start a conversation with her if you are in a hurry!

The location is great, right in the centro, quite close to the pedestrian zone and the great shopping street of Via Roma that leads to the beautiful Piazza Castello. There is free, safe public parking that Cristina directs you to but it is a bit of a hike.

Our room was quite large with a cathedral ceiling with a nice modern bathroom. We were there in September with very temperate weather but I imagine these rooms would be hot in the warmer weather as there is no AC.

There is no breakfast room, rather Cristina sends you around the block to a nice bar where you tell them you are from Apile and can have as many pastries and cups of caffe as you like (at east we did). Wifi coverage can be spotty and there is no refrigerator in the rooms.

After our fabulous stays in the more luxurious Palazzo Squarcialupi in Castellina and Baur B&B in Aqui Terme, we were looking for a simpler and less expensive option in Torino. We certainly got that by staying in Aprile where the cost was a very reasonable E90 per night for a room in a world class city.

Would probably opt not to stay there again because of the multitude of stairs but for the young and fit it is a good deal!
