Excellent B&B to stay at if you want to be near Vatican City.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner Rosa Maria. She had arranged for us to be met at the airport by Claudio in a Mercedes.

Usually we would have taken the train to Termini and then the express bus to Vatican City (the bus stop is 150 feet from the B&B) but it was very convenient to be met at the airport. At 40 euros for the two of us it was only 16 euros more than the train and the bus tickets would have cost. We also arrived in half the time it would have taken by train and bus. Definitely a plus if you are tired and disoriented after an overnight flight.

This B&B was on what we would consider to be the third floor. There was a small elevator which we used to have our two carryons brought up to the room. We preferred to use the stairs to get some exercise! We paid 115 euros per night for the "Green" room which was good sized and very well decorated. It had its own en suite bathroom with marble floor & wall tiles and a large shower with plenty of hot water. The bed was large and very comfortable.

Breakfast was served in the room at your requested time (we had 9:00 AM) by smiling and always cheerful Meldy. She would knock on the door at the appointed time and would have a wheeled cart with coffee, tea, cappuccino, warm milk, croissants, rolls, jams, butter, cheeses etc. We found it very filling and many days we did not need to get lunch, only a snack and then dinner. We were able to get refills on the cappuccino and tea.

The room had two wardrobe closets for hanging clothes and coats as well as a safe. There was cable TV with the usual mix of Italian and English stations (CNN, BBC). We also had a window that opened out overlooking the Viale delle Mura Aurelie. I was concerned that the street noise might be heard but the window was well insulated.

You can see pictures of the "Green" room on the website and they depict very accurately the room and the bathroom. The location was excellent for the bus lines into the center of Rome, and even better if you are interested in St. Peter's as we were. It was less than a 5 minute walk to St. Peter's square. We were also pleasantly surprised with a bottle of champagne from Rosa as a treat for our anniversary!

This was the best B&B accommodation we have had in Rome, and we will be sure to stay here during future visits.
