Very comfortable, reasonably priced, tastefully decorated bed and breakfast in Bergamo.

This bed and breakfast is officially located in Bergamo's lower city, but has quick access (either by the funiuclare, or a set of challenging stairs) to Citta Alta, Bergamo's ancient upper city. This makes it a great place to explore both the upper and lower sections of the city. IMO, Bergamo's upper city hotels are somewhat overpriced and often booked, while the lower city hotels can be typically bland. Alle Scallette is beautifuly decorated, spotless, fairly priced and quiet. Sara Chessi, the owner is a lifelong Bergamo resident who is very helpful with directions, tips, maps, etc. Breakfast is generous and the B & B has its own entrance. We (2 adults)stayed in the larger of the 2 bedrooms and were very comfortable.
