From the moment I arrived to the time I left I was right at home at this B&B. The owners went out of their way to make my stay relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfasts were memorable, and the homemade jams delicious. The conversations (both in English and in Italian) were great, and I learned a lot about the region, the city, and the traditions and customs. Staying at La Torretta Bianca B&B was the highlight of our two weeks in Italy! First of all, Le Marche region is wonderful. While it was hot and sticky just two hours north, it was warm and dry in Le Marche. With beautiful San Benedetto beaches and a host of things to see in the area, we could have easily spent another week there. Caves, water parks, beautiful hilltop medieval cities, old churches and a landscape like nowhere else kept me and my family happy the whole week. At the end of a long day of sightseeing and swimming, coming back to the B&B was like coming home. Either Romina or Thomas was always there to greet us and ask us if there was anything we needed and just to ask us how our day had gone. Romina is from San Benedetto so she is the expert on local and regional events and attractions. Thomas is an American transplant who gives the ex-pat perspective on his favorite things to see and do. Both of them were extremely kind and helpful. By the end of the week, it felt like we had made new friends. The main home has 5 bedrooms, but we opted to stay in the Dependance, a renovated 2-car detached garage. For myself, my wife and two daughters, it was perfect, with two separate rooms, a full bath with shower and a kitchenette. It has a separate entrance, air-conditioning and very comfortable beds. It was also very tastefully decorated. One would never guess it's previous use. Breakfast was always a delight, sitting out under the canopy with a gentle breeze, enjoying fresh breads, local pastries, juices and fruits grown right on their property. The fresh-picked hairless peaches and strawberries were excellent. A handy list on their website tells you when their many varieties of fruit will be ripe. It is a pleasure to stroll up and down their terraced hillside among the olives, figs, pomegranates and grapes. They also provided a fast wireless internet connection (and a laptop computer in my case) so I could check my email each day. This is a high quality B&B at a reasonable nightly rate (in the 40-100€ range, depending on the room) in a beautiful and convenient location, run by a wonderful couple. We can't wait to plan our return trip! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
