The apartment building was not fancy, but clean and in a normal, residential neighborhood full of working families. The bedrooms (only 4 total) were furnished with very basic, uninspiring "mobili" but who cares about that? Everything was clean, the bathrooms were modern and spotless, and the owner, Paolo, is absolutely wonderful. The number 8 tram is right up the street and takes only 20 minutes to get to Piazza Argentina and about 7 minutes to Trastevere train station, which makes it very easy to get to and from the airport (Fiumicino). My room had a balcony overlooking Pamphili Park and I often took my coffee out there after breakfast. There was a busy road right below, but this did not bother me in the least, as I am from Brooklyn, and can sleep through almost anything. If you are the type who prefers to stay in a non-touristy area, the better to get to know a city, then this is a good bet. One caveat (not a problem for short little me): if you are a tall man, you may find the beds too short for comfort. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
