Charming small B & B on the waterfront!
Parteno B & B is a lovely place to stay while vacationing in Naples. Small, charming with a helpful staff and the feel of a pensione Parteno is like a little home away from home. Ask for the bedroom in the front and you will have a large room with a beautiful view of the Bay of Naples. Bathrooms are small but there was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels.
There is access to the Internet on the hotel computer in the lobby available to all. Breakfasts were abundant and good. We needed to leave very early to catch our flight and were awakened with steaming cups of cappuccino and juice with a cab waiting for us.
We recommend a stay at Parteno to those who enjoy a small establishment of charm where you can rub shoulders with other guests and where expectations are not those of a five-star chain hotel. If you are looking for a large hotel with bar, restaurant, sleak marble bathrooms and all the trimmings, where nothing ever goes wrong the Parteno is not for you.

Six weeks later and I'm still upset. Cold water showers, absentee owners, a room for 3 that 2 *might* find comfortable, smoking in the common areas.
The AC worked (yeah) but not the in-bathroom hotwater heater. The owners were rarely there; instead they were busy with their new facility. The employees were not equipped to handle problems. "Oh, the owner will be here this afternoon..."
The breakfast was nowhere near as elaborate as their webpage suggests. The employees who arranged breakfast made the worst espresso & cappuccino ever - in their defense, they weren't Italian.
The room was extremely small with 3 small beds that had plastic mattress covers on them. The words hot and sweaty come to mind. Entrance at night was difficult because this B&B shares a common entrance with a bunch of apartments. Finding the right bell to ring the first time proved to be some trouble but after you entered there was only a 1 floor walkup. The positives were that taxis showed up fast and we only were in the room for 7 hours a day.
I made reservations at the Parteno because of the reviews on SlowTravel - mainly Rebecca's. I don't doubt that at some earlier time this was a nice place to stay BUT not now for 3 people with 3 weeks worth of luggage, looking for a non-smoking stay and hot showers in the morning and after a day exploring. Price was E165 for 3, we stayed 4 nights.
I will also mention that this hotel secured 3 very expensive opera tickets for the San Carlo; I gave my credit card info to them in April. Upon arrival we find that this opera was Not in the San Carlo but outside and away from the Naples downtown area. We cancelled our tickets with the assurance that a refund would be made (from the booking agency). The owner did this for us. The owner was to fax a copy of the cancellation to us. This has not yet happened nor has a refund been credited to us. And I have made several followup attempts to get this credit. But, hey, what can I say this is after all Bella Napoli and since I lived here for three glorious years, I can say without hesitation that nothing has changed except for the better air quality.
