When: March 2004

Mid-size hotel just steps from Piazza San Marco, with its own dock. Updated, nice rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast included, bar but no restaurant.

We were traveling as a large group, and didn't know what to expect - we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. They were able to check us into all eight rooms several hours before the published check in time. The rooms were not large, but sufficient. Nicely furnished, clean and with good sized bathrooms.

The folks at the desk were extremely helpful and most spoke English. There is no restaurant but a buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room. There is a bar, and the bartender is a showman - ask him to warm your cordial glass. Our rooms were a bargain but the bar bill was staggering - 8 for a glass of house red wine.

The hotel offers free boat service to Murano - they take you to a factory/showroom they have a relationship with and provide return boat service every half hour.

When we arrived we took the vaporetto to San Marco and walked to the hotel (a short walk) but when we left we had the hotel arrange private water taxis that picked us up from their dock (the back door of the lobby) and took us directly to Piazzale Roma at a cost of 15 per person.

I worked with the group sales office to book our rooms. We paid 149 each for seven double rooms and 109 for one single room.
