This is a nice new hotel but out near the GRA with a difficult trip to Rome centro to see anything. Not a good choice even for the price. {4 stars}

We and another couple stayed at the Eurostars Roma Congress Hotel, far out in the light industrial working district about one kilometer inside the GRA.

We had spacious, nice rooms and beds with free parking and free internet in the lobby at a cost of E253 for the four day stay. Continental breakfast was 4E, with a bigger breakfast 12E.

There are bus connections a couple of blocks away to the subway, but the early (5:45 AM to about 8:30) buses are packed like sardines. One person got off at our bus stop at 5:45 and we watched as the driver tried to close the door - it took several attempts.

So a car is needed if you don’t want to ride the bus, but wait until after 9:30 AM as the traffic after 6:15 AM to 9:30 AM is an exercise in frustration. Parking near the Rome center by the Villa Borghese Gardens and or the Vatican is possible if you find a space - plus it is expensive.

The traffic is impossible between 6:30AM to 9:30 AM or 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM making the idea of staying out of center of Rome anywhere near the GRA a bad tourist decision.

Will we stay there again, no, but that does not mean it is not an option for someone else!

Why did we stay out there on our 2005 trip? We stayed in a different wonderful hotel just outside the GRA but with a train station just a short drive away with little driving - making the trip to downtown easy.

You live and learn and the traffic in Rome has made a car there next to impossible as it looks like the number of cars must be up by 30% since 2005. Do yourself a favor, stay in an abode near downtown and take the bus. Your nerves will thank you.
