A great location for visiting the historic centre of Torino.

Our hotel was located near the Porto Nuovo train station terminal; the hotel could be seen one street over from the station.

The Holiday Inn City Centre has a very small parking garage underground which they give you access to from the reception. We carried our luggage up to reception and checked in. It was 7 pm. Our room had very poor air conditioning which we complained about and found out that they controlled it from the reception area. They could not get it to work for us and it was midnight by now. We had to open the window for the first night. There was a lot of noise from the street, it was very hot and humid and lights from neighbouring buildings shone through the window all night. It was miserable.

We complained again the next morning and had them change our room. What a difference! The air conditioning worked, the room was facing the inner courtyard so it was very quiet, but the room was a bit smaller in size. This room had a double bed, (2 singles put together), 1 chair, a tv, stall shower (with a full length mirror in the stall), toilet, bidet, Dove soap dispensers and big towels.

I must mention that the entire reception area was under major construction (they are sprucing up in anticipation of the Winter Olympics). This messiness flowed into the lobby area with construction materials lying around. You needed to watch your step to avoid an accident just walking to the elevator. They were also painting a room at the end of the hall on our floor.

We had quite a problem with our room key cards not working and had to go back down to the reception to have our cards fixed or have someone come up with the master key to let us in almost every time. This was a huge inconvience for us over the 2 days we stayed there, but I must say the people at the reception were very pleasant.

The best thing about this hotel was the convienent location. It was close to the train terminal where there was a grocery store, and very close to the old city centre and it was easy to walk to many sights.

The rate was 90 per night with an extra charge for parking the car. When the renovation is finished things should be much better and I would consider staying there again.
